Fourth-generation vigneron Fabien Coche took over his family’s domaine in 2005. Hailing from some of Burgundies most famed families (Coche-Dury was part of the same domaine until 1940 and now run by his cousin Raphael), Fabien is making big waves across Burgundy. His vineyard holdings total nearly 11 hectares spread across the appellations of Meursault, Monthelie, Pommard and Auxey-Duresses. Organic farming practices since 1998 for the 40 plots of vines that the family owns and average vine age is quite impressive with more than 60% of the vines over 60 years old.

Tasting Note:
These are always a brilliant entry into the range of Domaine Fabien Coche. Selected from 2 parcels aged from circa 30 to 60 years old in Meursault and Pommard, this wine is 100% destemmed with no plunging or remontage used during vinification. Aged in larger 300 litre barrels and bottled before harvest in August so as not to impart any overt oak influence and capture all the vibrant fresh fruit.
The resulting wine is actually quite a substantial wine considering its a basic Bourgogne Cote D'Or level. There is a real freshness to these wines with the bright and intoxicating red fruit characters wrapped around subtle nuances of spice and savoury notes. Traditionally Fabiens vinification for this wine is all about capturing finesse, fragrance and purity and he has succeeded quite brilliantly.
